What do you want to secure it from?

From being hacked.
When I want to log on, it says it is unsecured

You're going to have to give a bit more detail. There are several ways to "log on" to the router. I could guess which method you're asking about, but I'd probably get it wrong.
Instead, why don't you provide a more detailed explanation of what you're doing and where various messages (i.e. "unsecured") appear.
Good Luck.

There are two different aspects to securing the router.
1) The admin GUI. This is probably not what you're referring to since the admin GUI won't tell you it's unsecured. In any case you should have a strong password for the admin GUI that you can remember. The default password is on the router service tag.
2) Your wireless network. This is probably what you're referring to since you can turn off wireless encryption in the router. With wireless encryption turned off, your wireless network will appear as "unsecured". You should turn on wireless encryption and select a strong pass phrase. You should select WPA2 encryption as that is the strongest.
