I have been using Verizon Fios for probably 2 years now. In the beginning, it was great. Now that they're advertising it everywhere and everyone's getting it, I have begun comparing my "amazing" Fios experience to my "amazing" AOL dial up experience back in the 1990s.What confuses me is that FIOS performance should not be affected by how much other people are using it...so why is this happening?
It takes up to five minutes sometimes to load a webpage - which is beyond ridiculous. I'm not talking about YouTube or anything like that. Just this morning it took five minutes to load my bank's webpage, and I wasn't even running any other internet application at the same time. Sometimes it takes five minutes to load my email. I have already given up on trying to stream videos and music. Those only work on very lucky days.
In addition to terrible performance, the connection will sometimes break off randomly for ten minutes at a time with no apparent method of reconnecting immediately. I restart the router as a temporary solution. This happens to me at least 3 times a week, mostly at night.
Customer Service has already sent me 2 new routers in the last year, claiming my internet problems were due to old routers. I am sick of changing routers when that is obviously not the problem.
I am just sick and tired of paying so much money for such pathetic service. Time Warner has better internet than them - and they're not even FIOS technology. Whenever I see a television ad or hear a radio ad about how fast and high-tech FIOS is, I let out a loud laugh, because that is truly the biggest joke of the year.

That would indeed suck, and I wouldn't want to be in your shoes, but just for the sake of clarity, I'm assuming you've tried all sorts of troubleshooting to verify that it may not be some issue on your own home network? Or maybe perform some traceroutes to troublesome sites to verify response times? Similar results using different computers?
Well anyway, good luck.

If FiOS internet as a whole were as horrible as you describe, it would not be around....
Whatever the issue, seems that it is local to your particular connection or perhaps even something on your end...
Reset the router with a paperclip or pen in the reset hole on the back of the router for 15 seconds.... Unplug the power supply and remove the leads from the battery backup's battery for 5 minutes, reboot your PC and get a fresh start with everything...
I am hoping you are wanting to resolve this issue, as oppose to just complaining about it.....
Do you have more than 1 PC??? is it wired or wireless?? if you have teens in the house, are they contantly downloading movies and music, sucking up your bandwith?
Can you have a friend, family member, neighbor, co workier, someone bring another PC over to test with?
