Stand Alone Modem for CAT 5 FIOS

Hello all,

Is there a "stand alone" modem I can get from Verizon or buy that will let me try my own wireless routers?

Don't particularly like the Actiontec, Rev I for several reasons. Yes, I know, I can parallel my own router with the Actiontec. Don't want to do that.

Any info appreciated.........Thanks, Ken

If you have NO TV services from FiOS then you can Ethernet into any commercially available router on the market, and there is no need for a modem with FiOS.

If you have FiOS TV service, then you need to keep the Actiontec in the picture somewhere in the network set up, otherwise the On Demand and the IMG Menu Guide and Widgets will all go away.

Take a look at some of the related links, and see if any of the setups match what you are trying to accomplish.

FIOS doesn't use modems (except in VDSL/MDU installs), so no, there is no spearate modem you can buy.

See the links Hubrisnxs provided for options.
