Odd bit of trivia

I never noticed before but the password field on the router login screen once you start typing shows a little symbol at the right end of the entry box.  If you press that symbol it displays the characters that have entered with the interspersed superflous characters that were added.

Have to believe it's purpose is so that you can check what you actually entered.  Unfortunately it apparently doesn't work with Chrome but does with IE - at least with IE v11

Also it doesn't show once the logon window has lost focus

Don't you love the variety in how Microsoft products work on different machines?

Both of my computers are HP 64 bit notebooks, but I wouldn't expect that to be a factor.

I don't get that with IE11.  Thought it might have something to do with WIN8.1.   But I tried it on a WIN7 laptop and still didn't get it.

All my 2008 servers, which are running v11, also show it - they and my win7 machine are all 64 bit

my 2003 server doesn't show it - it's 32bit and ie 8

see it on windows 8.1 x64 with ie 11 too
