Hi,

I just got this verizon FiOS service starting from July 15th. The box outside the hosue is beeping and has a red indicator. Red indicator is for changing the battery. I was wondering should I go and open the box and try to change the battery or should I ask verizon to come and fix it. It is just less than 10 days. Anybody has such experince with the box?

My guess is Verizon installed a bad battery or a bad Battery Backup Unit. I'd call Verizon, because while you are responsible for replacing the battery in the long term, they are responsible for providing you with one that works in the first place. This is a warranty or an installation issue. I wouldn't touch the box, let Verizon deal with it.

Before calling verizon, make sure the Battery Backup charger/power supply is still plugged into the wall in an unswitched outlet.

Agree 100% with what matheww said. But to add one little tip: if the BBU is plugged into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) controlled outlet, make sure the GFCI has not tripped. If it is GFCI controlled, the reset may be on the outlet itself or in your circuit breaker box, depending on how your house is wired.

Just a thought....
