I posted on 1/19/2014 (page 10 of this thread). Since then, I've had the ONT replaced but the problems persisted. Thursday evening, my router just stopped working.  All of the lights were green and flashing as normal, but I couldn't ping Google or Verizon, any other computers on my network, or the router's IP.  I couldn't even browse to http://192.168.1.1.  Made yet another call to Verizon Customer Service (this time to their tech support center in Texas), spoke to another floor supervisor, and made yet another appointment.

So I've disconnected every wired device from my network (except a laser printer), replaced a switch that I was using to extend my network to the other side of my house.  I swear that the problem is getting worse because I used to see a reboot 2-3 times per day (once in afternoon and again in the early morning, yet today it rebooted 3 times between 3:30 and 6:30.

Another Verizon tech is coming to my home tomorrow, this time to look at all of the wiring.  Hey, it's that last thing they could possibly check.  Nothing has changed with my home network configuration for months.  I still believe that it is a firmware issue with the router.

So, I had mentioned to my neighbor about the issues I have been having.  He called me earlier today and said he just noticed that he is having the same problem.  Interestingly enough he has the "F" router, not the "I".   Even more evidence that I believe it is a network work issue between Actiontec and Verizon.  I asked him to call CS but told him to tell them hr has done all of the troubleshooting we have done already.  LETS ALL GET THiS GOING!!!  ITS BEEN TOO LONG FOR VERIZON TO IGNORE THE BIG ISSUE!!

Not really sure what else you want us to do. I've been in contact with them for weeks about this issue, and it still persists. They haven't been ignoring it, they just cant fix it.

Sangs, yeah I know.  I just thought maybe writing in big bold letters would magically fix the problem as it is one of the troubleshooting things I hadn't tried yet.

Seroiusly though, what I meant was - I'm just urging anyone who is reading this thread and hasn't called them yet to please do so.  They need to be flooded with these for them to address the issue quickly.

I'm experiencing the new fun issue now too.  Router just "froze" up.  Lights were blinking, but I couldn't access anything on my network or external.  Once i restarted I was back up (of course I was in the middle of doing something for work).. my only saving grace is that I was remote desktoped into a machine at work so I didn't actually lose any work.  Unfortunately called Comcast this morning... they are coming out this week to hook me back up... stinks, but after reading everything on here it just doesn't seem like anything is going to happen anytime soon.  I'll come back once Verizon decides to listen to their customer or (at the very least) publicly annouce the issue and update their customers to let them know the status.

Months ago I started noticing that our internet service would drop out and the router would reset (all green lights would disappear, the power light would go from green to red and the router would seem to reset itself). This happens, as far as I can tell, around 2 times per day.
I have contacted technical support and the only solution I have been provided has been to reset the router (which I have done many times as per their instructions) but that hasn't fixed the problem. I was also told it may be a problem with my computer but the internet drops out for the entire household so one computer cannot be the culprit.

In case it matters, I have the MI424WR router.

Thanks for looking into this as I cannot see keeping on paying what I'm paying for internet service that drops out for reasons that seem to be beyond technical support.

Well this certainly doesn't sound promising guys. These guys have been working with me to fix this reboot craziness, but I'm not thinking this bodes well for a fix. Here's what they told me today:

I've let them know this is not as limited in scope as they're making it seem though and the reply was that they need people to let them know, officially.

Ridiculous. I bet the average user is experiencing this problem and doesn't even know it, or they simply choose not to lodge a complaint.

This is the most heavily trafficked thread at present. That's a pretty good indicator that this is widespread. especially if you view the number of people who have posted here as a representative sampling. This is an epidemic.

I, for one, will not stop complaining until this is remedied. That means another call to tier 3 tomorrow. Yay!

I thought I was the only one and made a fresh post that was moved into here......the tech guys I have been speaking to have said they were unaware of any sort of problem that I was having.

I'll definitely keep complaining about this as well until they issue a statement verifying the problem and what they are going to do to remedy it.......my bill is far too steep to put up with this nonsense. That's not to bash the folks in tech support as they just may not know what to do.

The biggest issue I have with all this is that I paid $79.99 to upgrade to this MI424WR router only to have to go through this with no help beyond - "reset the router and all should be good."

As a next step, we may want to consider submitting this as a story idea to certain outlets like CNET, The Verge, etc. Can anybody think of any others?
