Ah unfortunately Verizon Fios is not the culprit in browser ad hacks. The block pop ups have little affect. And now the only browser that can stop such behaviors is the Apple Safari browser which can be downloaded for free.
http://www.download.com I think is the best site.
use that and also turn off cookies and set auto cache cleaning when leaving the browser.
Hopefully it will help you.

Safari isn't supported by Apple anymore on PC. Please don't install it :-(.
This sounds like OP has adware installed on their machine. They should run this tool: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
Afterwards give the computer a scan with MalwareBytes to make sure there's nothing left over. Additionally, OP should remove all extensions from their browser, especially things which look like, or are shopping helpers or coupon tools. Those are garbage.
