I have a laptop from work that should connect to the systems at work (wirelessly) through a VPN connection. It is not connecting. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I use VPN over WiFi and Ethernet through my FiOS connection every day with no problems. You'll have to give a lot more details before anyone here can have a chance of helping you. To start with, are you able to establish a WiFi connection prior to starting the VPN?
You might have better luck contacting your corporate IT departement, as they know the specifics of your VPN software and setup.

What sort of VPN does your work use? OpenVPN, L2TP, IPSec, IKEv2? Which sort of machine are you connecting from: OS X, iOS, Windows, Android, Windows Phone, Linux?
If L2TP, there are some settings on your router you may want to look at, specifically concerning port triggering.
