I recently switched from using a Comcast HSI connection to a 50/20 FIOS HSI setup as our secondary ISP.
I use Intermapper running on an Mac Mini as a monitoring tool to verify that our primary web server (and various other servers) continue to be up and operation on our primary ISP connection.
I'm experiencing intermittent outages since converting over to FIOS, and now I"m noticing the following entries in the system logs on our fios router.
Time Event Event-Type Details Jul 1 13:46:56 2009 System Log Message daemon.warn DNS: unknown PTR name format[repeated 24 times, last time on Jul 1 14:02:24 2009] Jul 1 13:46:00 2009 System Log Message
daemon.warn sys_if_ioctl_mii_execute:507: Both tried MII ioclts 8947/89F0 failed: Operation not supported.
[repeated 2 times, last time on Jul 1 13:46:00 2009]
Any idea's as to if these are related to the minor outages I'm experiencing, AND more importantly, is there an update for this unit that may help?
I see the following information about the gateway:
Software Version: 1.02.00.04 Upgrade Release Date: Aug 28 2008 Platform: Westell UltraLine Series3 Model Number: A90-9100EM15-10 INI File Name: 096-900205-02 INI File Version: A Hardware Version: D Hardware Serial Number:xxxxxxxxxxxx
When I click on the upgrade link, and tell it to check now, I get the following message:
Error Image URL: URL must be in the format: protocol://user:password@host:port/path where protocol is one of http, https, ftp or tftp. Either user or password, or both, may be left out. The port number is also optional.Any idea's about what I should test, or how I could rule things out?
(ah bummer, I attempted to post the HTML tables, and while it looked good while editing, it was removed as invalid HTML code....

Am I the only one who has observed this sort of issue?
Or has it been observed, and no one has a solution?

I have the same issue. I have been through 3 routers and two technicians on-site. It has to be something with the firewall/firmware of firewall. I receive the same error you receive but also get Sep 8 19:17:15 2009 System Log Message daemon.err HTTP server returned error 404 [repeated 348 times, last time on Sep 8 19:29:15 2009] And the repeated times continues to grow - once it reaches close to 1000, same on all three units I have received, it will essentialy power cycle and its fine when it comes back up. Support is of no help to try to resolve.
