I have a Westell 9100EM. For the past 2-3 weeks, it has started to make a clattering noise which happens with regularity every 3-4 minutes.
All my connections work fine, however.
I'm just wondering if this is a sign of a dying modem?
Thanks,
TJ

May be a bad fan. Anything poking into the modem near its vents?

The Westell does not have a fan. No moving parts, so a "clattering" sound coming from it is highly unusual.

The clattering noise, without a look into seeing what the problem is could be perhaps a dead/blown capacitor on the board of the Westell. If you're uncomfortable with it, since a Westell is not supposed to make noise (besides perhaps a high-pitched electronic sound coming from the CPU), get Verizon to replace it for you.
