WiFi router keeps dropping connections

Hello All,

I have been experiencing problem with WiFi router that Verizon provides with the account (well, they don't give it free like many other providers ) keeps dropping wiFi connections with computers - especially with my iPhone. The wired connection connection does NOT seem to have the same issue.

By The Way  - I can not find a way to lodge a complaint, service request on verizon website - thought there are number of ways you can order new service or upgrade - but no way to log a problem/complaint/servie request.

Log into the router and go to the basic wireless settings and chsnge the wireless channel from auto to channel 6 and check the box to keep the setting after a reboot. Scrool down and hit apply. See if that helps.

What I would do is do a hard reset on the router. Reset button is on the back. Just stick something small enough in it, hold it for about 5 seonds and let go. Let it cycle up all of the way.

You'll have to set everything up again, but this might be an easy fix.

I recently got the new Gateway dual band router and had signal issues with it. I did a hard reset and it fixed it.

If resetting it doesn't fix it you might have faulty radios in which case you'll want to call them and have them send you a replacement.

And what would you suggest after that's been done about 5 times in one day?

Love the inevitable Verizon response "Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you" and then you get a lot of **bleep** questions that have nothing to do with the problem but waste tons of time. And then they send you a new model modem that fails to work in wifi mode after only two weeks.

Time for an independent ISP; my time is worth more than what I'm paying Verizon for crappy service.
