Welcome to the forums. You're talking to other customers here. All any of us know about Verizon's plans to expand FiOS is what they've publicly announced. In other words, nothing. You may be able to get information from your local government representative, especially given Verizon's deals in NYC. I'm not in NYC, so I've no knowledge.
If you do get it, I'm sure you'll be quite happy with the Internet service. I have triple play, and have no complaints with the service. Verizon is very good at adjusting their prices and packages to keep pace with the market, which means if you don't keep a close eye on your bill you may find out you're not getting the best deal possible.
Good Luck.
