Guide Data wrong again

When is Verizon going to finally get a new guide provider - this past week they had Saving Grace noted at the wrong time so it didn't record, and on Friday Flashpoint didn't record so I can only assume it was not marked as new.  What good is scheduling a series for recording if the guide data is consistently wrong.  This is unacceptable.    Just voicing my opinion

Is there a proper reporting procedure if you find guide data that is wrong?  For instance, New England Patriots are playing Dallas Cowboys on Channel 508 in Massachusetts on Sunday, Oct 16th but the guide shows that the game will be New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Another complaint that I have regarding the guide data is that for MLB Baseball games on NESN featuring the Boston Red Sox, it doesn't make any distinction if it's the actual, live baseball game or if it's a previously played game (Sox in Two).

Just checked (Sunday morning) and noticed that the New England Patriots vs Dallas Cowboys is still not showing in the guide (in MA). It still shows the New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 508.

Does anyone with FIOS check these posts, or do we need to bug customer service about Guide errors?

Well on TruTV the other night it said COPs all night and it was Operation Repo that was on all night. Welcome to the FYI guide provider that is providing the guide for FiOS. It was getting better but I see now it is slipping again. I guess contract renewals were coming up last time it improved. You know the saying Verizon, Fooled me once shame on you, fooled me twice... Etc. Come on, when this guide providers contract is finished, get a new provider.

I have been a subscriber for over 3 years and from day one the guide data has been a complete disgrace. This weekend was a total joke, so many errors in the guide data there were too many to count. Seriously what the hell is Verizon doing!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! I thought we were told with the NEW 1.9 version guide they were using different data providers. Well you could have fooled me, the gabage is the guide is riddled with errors jsut as bad as when I first subscribed. Nothing has changed.

The only thing I had heard was that they have two data sources and that somehow they would be combined to improve the information available. Well I am waiting for Cops to be shown in the guide with details for Operation Repo. I have been subscribed since VHO4 launched TV, in I believe 2007. My daughter has my older Tivo upstairs, and I have been using the new QIP-7232-P2 for about a year. I am missing my Tivo because I am sure I am missing episodes in my series.

According to @FIOSTV on twitter "guide software itself doesn't fix the problem i.e. other stuff improved the accuracy"

I think we shall see about more accurate information. FYI company is a little office building in Grand Prarie, TX.

Their website... www.fyitelevision.com

They recently updated their website. A few months ago they had pictures of tv shows were cancelled years ago.

I've contacted them over the past few years, and they never respond.

I really find the errors with the Guide annoying.  The most often errors I find are descriptions for movies that are the same name as another movies.  An example is this weekend on The Movie Channel, 12/8/12.  The movie described was The Uninvited (2009) but the movie run was the Uninvited (2008).  Seems like an easy mistake, but it seems like every instance of a movie that could be confused because of another with the same name has the wrong information.  For all the quality technically of Verizon Fios, it really looks like they cut corners in the oddest ways.

Fyi television is verizon's guide provider and is an absolute joke because of how incompetent and inept they are when it comes to doing their jobs. They are being paid millions of dollars a year by verizon to make sure the data that is listed on the guide is accurate and up to date but it rarely matches what is actually playing! Could you imagine paying a mechanic to make sure that your car is running as it should where everything with it is up to date and then the car breaks down on you? Well that is what is going on with verizon's guide provider who quite frankly does not care about seeing to it that things match so long as they are being paid by verizon. From sporting events that do not start at the time that it is listed to the wrong movies being listed where movies that have the same title are wrongly listed to there being no descriptions to the wrong casts being on there verizon's guide provider has made a lot of people seek out satellite tv because they have a different company who does their guide where they rarely put out incorrect information. The problem is not going away and for people who set up their dvrs based on what is listed on the guide only to find out later that what was listed was wrong where their dvrs have filled up with programs or movies that they thought were actually something else their problems make them start to contemplate another tv provider because verizon will not consider changing to another guide provider. If more verizon customers were to make their voices known about this issue and start flooding the forums about these guide data problems like they do about a potential channel being dropped or people who want a channel added then that would put pressure on verizon to eventually make the change to find another guide provider. No customer who is paying for dvrs and access to channels they have deserve to be treated this way where almost everything that is on the guide is wrong because the guide data is so dated that it gets to the point where for a lot of people they do not even want to turn on their tvs anymore because they know that nothing on the guide will match what is actually playing. I have been saying for a while now that there are channels that have no schedules for them on the guide but on the channel's own website and on websites like zap 2 it and tv guide when you pull up the fios guide they have schedules for those channels. If you were to pull up the guide you would see channels 1509, 1548, 1781 just have "programming" listed on the guide when in fact there are schedules out there that can be added to the guide but they are not. Now i find it very hard to believe that channels would be added to the guide where those channels would not want potential viewers to know what is playing and at what time. So what that means is everyone has those schedules but verizon does not because of their guide provider. Robot Mad

What I have found is even if you set a series to record and the start time changes after even if the guide shows the red dot, that it is sched. to record, it doesn't. Last night I had set dvr to record CSI NY. The guide had the red dot. But it didn't start. Why, because the sched. apparently changed it to start at 9:01. And subsequently Blue Bloods went to 10:02.

I didn't notice until just after 9:01 so DVR wouldn't let me record the show. I was able to add the changed Blue Bloods at 10:02. There should be a way for the box to know the program in case the time changes. Mind you this is not like a ballgame runs over, This seemed to be a Network change.
