Scheduled Recordings DVR

I have recordings scheduled on my Verizon DVR for Sunday evening.  I am finding that the football games run late and as a result I end up with only have of my program recorded because I get a portion of the program scheduled before my recording time.  If the game coverage runs long the local stations just start the programs late, and therefore my start times are off.  Is there any way to correct for these late start times?

For my Sunday evening recordings I set it to start on time and end 2 hours late.   That's ample time to cover the schedule disruption caused by ball games.  Sometimes I have to fast forward through a previous program when a game ran overtime.  But I never miss the ending.

This is one of my biggest gripes about Verizon DVR recording.  I find it very hard to believe that no one at Verizon is watching a game or Presidential speech, knowing that everyone's scheduled recordings are going to be cut short.  They can't send a signal out to adjust the recording times?  Of course, the better solution would be to have the shows coded so that the DVR records the specific show and not a specific time.  Can anyone tell me a downside to that approach?  Missing the end of shows that we are paying to record is really getting tiresome.

This comes up time and time again.

I don't beleive there is any provider that offers this type of adjustment.

How does Verizon send out a notification to millions of boxes all at once?

And how long do they do it for?

As previoulsy stated, when live events are on, you ahve to make schedule adjustments.

Maybe talk to the sports leagues and see if they can figure out how to keep their "normal" games within the alloted times.

Can't account for overtime or other rare events, but would be nice for msot games to complete on time.
