Is there a charge or a additional monthly charge to upgrade to the 7232 DVR?

There's no additional monthly charge but at this time existing customers are charged $40 to upgrade to the 7232.

I ordered one and had it the next day, FWIW.

How long were you on the waiting list before being contacted for the upgrade?

Well, a couple of months.  But I put myself on the waiting list sometime last year before the 7232 was actually available.

I'm not aware of how it works if you aren't already on the waiting list and want to get a 7232 now.

I know if you find a Verizon store that has the 7232 there is no charge to add a second DVR other than the monthly fee. How long afterward you keep your existing DVR is up to you. Not sure how long that loop hole will last.
