Cable box and remote control question

Is it possible to delete channels that you do not use on FIOS Digital. In other words, If I don't want the community service channels and want to remove them so that I don't see them anymore? Thanks!

You cannot 'delete' channels.

However you can effectively achieve the same result. What you have to do is create a list of the channels you are interested (or in your case, don't put the channels you are not interested in) into one of the two favorites categories. You can then configure the DVR to only tune to the Favorites channels when you press channel up or channel down (you can also configure the guide to only show those channels as well).  This is a nuisance to do the first time, because you have to enter the channels into the favorites list either one at a time (or all at once, and then delete from the list the ones you don't want).

The channels you don't care about are still there, but the only way to get to them is by asking for them by channel number. When you use channel up or channel down, the channels that are not in the favorites list will be skipped over.

The only draw back is that if the channel line up changes, or channels are added or deleted, you need to updates your favorites list to either add or remove them.

Just to expand a little on matheww's excellent reply, when you create a Favorites list on any STB (DVR or non-DVR) you can do so:

1) With one entry in it, and add channels later (using the Options button on the remote)

2) With all of the available channels in it, and remove those you don't want later (via the Menu)

3) With only the channels in it you want the very first time (via the Menu)

I prefer option #3, it takes more time up front but will get you a customized list more quickly that contains exactly what you want. And if you find out later that you added some channels you no longer want, or didn't add channels you now want, it is easy to delete or add individual channels using the Options button on the remote.

If you want to see only your Favorites channels when you hit the Guide button, you will want to make two additional settings in the Menu:

Settings ==> Favorite Channels ==> Favorites Button ==> Toggle Flip by Favorites (IMO, a terrible title)

Settings ==> Favorite Channels ==> Favorites Button ==> Flip by Favorites ==> Favorites 1 (or Favorites 2)

With the above settings all you need to do is hit the Favorites button on the remote (the "heart" button) to cycle through the various Guide views (All, Favorites 1 if defined, Favorites 2 if defined)

One last thing: if you want, you can create your chosen Favorites list(s) via the MyVerizon website, but only for a DVR.

Unfortunately there is currently no way to save your Favorites settings, or to transfer them between STBs. The FiOS developers are aware of these needs, hopefully we will see these capabilities in the not too distant future.
