Cable card question

Hi,

Just want to confirm that if I buy a HDTV with a cable card slot I don't need a STB to get all channels, minus on demand etc...?

I can rent a cable card for $4/mo, right?

The TV will be a small kitchen unit. My wife insists on no STB on the counter!

Thanks, Tom

What you said is true but good luck finding a kitchen TV with a cable card slot. Usually the cable card slots come with the larger TVs.

your assumptions are correct.

however, if you get a small tv with a QAM tuner, then you won't need a cable card at all.  you should be able to get only the local channels via verizon.

What you said is true. Hope you can find a TV with cablecard they seem to be hard to find anymore. FYI, I have a Pioneer plasma with CC and it works great. I get much better picture quality with CC than the STB. Please note my STB is not using HDMI (which should help picture quality), becasue HDMI does not work well with Verizon STB's.

Hope you find what you are looking for, I just wish all TV's had CC's.
