Can't delete shows off of DVR

Verizon obviously can't solve my problem.  So, I am hoping someone here can help me.  After I watch a recorded show off of the alternate DVR, I want to delete it from the main DVR.  The only problem is the DVR won't allow me to delete these shows.  This is filling up the memory on my DVR.  We have replaced the DVR 3 times and replaced the router once.  Despite all that it still doesn't work.  Any suggestions?

Thank you!

My understanding is that currently you cannot schedule or delete recordings on one DVR from another DVR like you can from a non-DVR STB. Hopefully that restriction will be lifted when the next update of the IMG is delivered.

Thank you for your reply Justin.  I am recording the shows off of the multi-room DVR.  That is the only DVR that I can record & delete from.  The other DVR is one of the old standard DVR's that doesn't record.  It is really just a set-top box that allows me to see chanels, view VOD, and view recorded shows.  I have never been able to record or delete from it.  However, I have always been able to delete shows from the multi-room DVR after I watch shows on the old standard set-top box until about a month ago. Every time I call tech support I get a different solution and everyone makes me run thru the ordeal of resetting my top-box and all that stuff.  I have spent countless hours on this problem.

Verizon either needs to send a tech to my house to solve this problem or upgrade to a new DVR with more memory at no charge.  This is not my issue.  This is Verizo's problem.  I need it fixed ASAP.

Thank you!

OK, now I do not understand your environment, so we need some additional information.

Originally you said you had multiple DVRs, now I think you are saying you have one DVR and a non-DVR. So lets make sure we understand what you do have: what are the model numbers of the various set top boxes you have? Please identify all of your set to boxes. The model number is on the front of each box. For Motorola boxes, it will be QIPxxxx (there may be an extension after the xxxx, -x, be sure to provide that also), for Cisco it will be CHS xxx. Please also tell us, what kind of TV is attached to each box, not the brand but whether it is HD or SD. Thanks.

Based on your new description, it sound like you have Motorola boxes, an HD DVR and an old SD QIP2500-3. I no longer have any QIP2500 boxes, I replaced mine with QIP7100-P2 HD models even though I have SD TVs attached to them, the interface to the DVR works just fine (schedule, delete, etc.). I suspect that the relatively new 1.9 level of the IMG does not support deleting programs on the DVR from a QIP2500-3, but I do not know that for sure, hopefully someone here can confirm or deny that.

By the way, one more question: where are you located? Verizon rolled out the new IMG level way more than a month ago to the last area to get it - Northeastern US.

Well hello from Keller, almost neighbor.

I'm probably not going to be able to help. I had a QIP2500-1 until about a year ago, then replaced it with an HD STB even though I have an SD TV attached to it. I got rid of the 2500 before I got the new 1.9 level of the IMG or ordered the multi-room support, so I have no experience with that setup. But my understanding is that the new 1.9 IMG does not even run on the 2500-1 at all, so I really don't know what to suggest other than to consider upgrading it to a 7xxx box (more $$$).

However, something else new I learned today. There is now a new option in the Menu on the STB about getting a free replacement for your old QIP6xxx boxes because Verizon is going to start delivering new HD channels using a technology that the 6xxx boxes do not support. You can find information here:

Menu ==> Customer Support ==> In-Home Agent ==> Set Top Box Exchange

In the text displayed there is a tiny bit of info and a test to see if any of your STBs qualify, but it also tells you to go to:

Menu ==> Customer Support ==> Help Topics ==> Set Top Box Exchange

Where there are a lot of questions and answers. I encourage you to go there and check to see if you can get a replacement DVR, the 6416 is a dog with IMG 1.9. Note that you will lose any recordings you have on your existing DVR if you do the exchange, but I believe you will find any replacement DVR to be a big improvement over the 6416.

Sorry I can't help you with the multi-room delete issue, I hope someone else here can.

Thank you neighbor.  Unfortunately it says my set top boxes are compatible.  I find that hard to believe since they don't work.  This is the 3rd multi-room DVR I have had from Verizon lately.  They keep sending me so called "re-furbished" DVR's.  I can tell you one wasn't refurbished because it still had all the recorded shows on it from the last person.  Plus, it had all sorts of other issues.  I have spent countless hours on the phone with them trying to get this problem fixed.  I really don't want to call them again just to be put on terminal hold & find out they really can't solve my problem.

By the way, why does Verizon now charge us for these things?  Don't we already pay for this equipment on a monthly basis?

Any other ideas people?

Thank you Justin!

Justin , Hello!
I have two 7232 DVRs and you can delete recordings from one DVR to the other DVR.  At this time however, you cannot schedule on the other DVR.

I also live in the Dallas area.  I have a QIP7232-P2 Multi-room DVR and a QIP2500 standard set top box.  If I watch a non-HD recorded program on the QIP2500, I then cannot delete it from the Multi-room DVR.  Once I watch another non-HD show on the standard set top box, then I can delete the previously watched show but not the currently watched show.  I can't even delete it from within Verizon  FiOS TV Central.  Weird.
