Channels 1500-1729 the same as 2-295

This is something I've always wondered about but always forget to ask. Why is it that we have duplicate channels up in the 15,16, and 1700s? Most of what I have from channel 2 through 295 is also up in those higher channels. What is the purpose of this? My HD channels start in the 500s so it has nothing to do with HD. Are they just giving us extra channels in case the lower numbers have a problem? Anyway, I always wondered what the purpose is for the duplicate channels. Thanks for any info on this.

*Update*

I just found a thread that said those channels are part of a Spanish tier. Yet, most of them are in English. Why is that? Thanks.

Some of the channels do offer Spanish language audio (SAP) if the user does not have English set as their default language.

But some channels are only available in English, and Spanish-speaking customers desire those channels too.

Make sure you follow the instructions right here to customize your guide to remove the extra channels.
