So, I feel like a pay a fair price to enjoy my tv services, and with the world's slowest responding piece of electronics, I was already borderline annoyed with it. Any button I press whether it's DVR, or just typing in a channel number, the response is so pathetically slow and unresponsive it's frustrating as hell. But since I don't watch too much tv personally it was something I could deal with. Now suddenly when I click the DVR button and try to select a show, or I click the On Demand button, there's often a popup window advertising some other On Demand thing. I don't mind the static ads that are plastered throughout the entire interface, but when I tell my DVR to play a movie, I don't want it to ignore my command and display an ad instead. What's worse is that after you close the ad, you have to click play, or whatever button you had originally clicked. I know from previous experience needing a replacement box that much much much faster boxes exist, and for whatever reason I'm not priveleged enough to deserve one. That's fine, but if you're going to make every day navigation such a pain the **bleep**, the least you can do is not interupt my struggle to perform a simple task on your cheap boxes to have to deal with a poorly integrated popup ad. I mainly just wanted to rant, but if there's some sure way to upgrade my box to a less a {word filter avoidance} one without having to pay any higher monthly fee, that'd be good to know as well.

I see it's been four days without a response.
Not to be rude, but separating your giant block of text into smaller paragraphs will go a long way.

I have no problem reading his block of text. He's upset, and it sounds as if he's justified in rattling out a ton of thoughts at once.

Just so you know, you can disable pop-ups, interactive TV and that FiOS home page in the DVR/STB settings. I believe the pop-ups toggle is under "Promotions" and you can select it to never display such things. (I did it so long ago I don't remember the exact steps, but it's there.)

Thank you very much. I'll try this. It is still irks me that the default state is "annoy paying customer" though.

Agreed. I never agreed to upgrade the firmware in my set top box. When it was forced upon me, it included these ads, which my family detests.

You agreed by signing up for the service.
They can't have people running all different levels of software.
And as stated, you can disable everything you might see while watching a show.
