Delay in receiving video signal from FiOS HD STB on Samsung LED TV

I have a new Samsung LED TV connected to a FiOS Motorola HD STB using the HDMI cable supplied with the STB, connected to the HDMI 1/DVI port.  When I power on my TV (whether or not the STB is on already or powered on simultaneously with the TV), there is about a 5-10 second delay before I get a picture. Meantime, my Samsung TV tells me that it cannot find a signal.  The TV and STB work fine together otherwise.  Is there a way to eliminate this 'lag' time?

HDMI handshake. My older Samsung does the same, but only a few of seconds, and no where near 10 seconds. What HD STB do you have. I would see this on the 7216 DVR. Funny my Tivo has no delay, but when I put the QIP-7216 on that set there is a slight delay, but only when first turned on. We will need to see what the new 1.9 img software does when it is released. It may just be a Samsung thing. I have 2 Vizio sets and it does not occur. One LCD and one LED. The Samsung is about 4 years old.

Definetely an hdmi thing but try this and see if it works. Menu> settings>sd override and set it to off.

I've got a 3 yr old Samsung LED and a 6416 I get the few second lag as well (I use HDMI). To be honest it really does not bother me in the least and I've learned to live with it. I'd rather keep the SD override on.
