I read on another forum that the 7232 DVRs only recognize up to 2TB drives. Amazon has 2TB external eSATA drives for $119 free shipping.

Can't say about the 3TB drives, but I can confirm that a 2TB drive does indeed work as that's what I'm using.

I just tried what you are asking and I wish there was good news. I tried two different highly rated external drive cases with a WD30EURS 3tb drive. The fios box instantly detected it, but would never recognize the drive space. I even left it running for almost 3 hours when I went out to dinner. I tried the same cases with a WD 2tb caviar green, recognized, and said drive was ready for recording almost instantly. *SIGH*
