DVR Needs to be Reset Often for Remote Management

Does anyone else need to often reset their DVR's in order to be able remotely manage it?
If I'm home I have to unplug it and plug it back in. If I'm away I need to contact Verizon to have them send a reboot signal. Even then, while resetting ultimately fixes the problem, I don't get access for at least several hours after.
Does anyone else have this problem?
