just tonight, under view schedule - at the top of the list a new ebtry appeared

     Sun 1/5/1980

         7:00 PM Manual Recording

yes, 1980!!!

if you try to delete it - it fails the delete

the issue is - since it is at the top it prevents the scheduled recordings - hangs the box

of course - it cannot be deleted - directly on the box with the remote, on-line via the PC - at least on the

pc - it says it deleted it, renoves it from the pc list - but if you refresh the list on the pc (leave and return to the

DVR section) it is still there

i rebooted the box 3 times - and each time it moved down the list - 3 or 4 days each time  - untimately it

went to the end of the list

i call tech support and they tried multipke reboots - with the final one - a "hard " reboot - that took 15 minutes

and it was still there!!!  again at the top of the list - with the 1980 date

the final result of the call - was - we will send you a new box

sounds extreme

any ideas or suggestions

regards - paulbp

I have the same exact issue. You needed to change the box?

I now have the same issue too, same date of Sun 1/5/80.

I can't delete the scheduled recording, error message says can't because it's a past event.

Anybody have this and get it resolved (hopefully without replacing entire DVR)?

A signal can be sent that should delete all your schedules, settings and personalizations.  I think you keep your recordings.

Thank you TNS_2

Update - I spent the past two hours on phone with FiOS "support", two phone calls. Various resets. The most recent reset wiped my Settings, but not scheduled recordings nor DVR content. So I had to redo all settings/favorites, not done with that yet. Too bad they didn't do the reset that wiped the Scheduled Recording info --- all that happened with that is that the Manual Recording is now scheduled to happen again later in July (and of course still can't delete it myself because it's a prior event)

I just can't deal with getting another reset right now (the one TNS_2 suggested). Will do in a few days when I'm up for redoing all my settings again and spending more time on the phone. The support person thought he had erased all my DVR content, didn't mention this until AFTER he had done the reset - told me content had been erased (but it wasn't).

Amazing to me that a support person would wipe out your stuff without asking you first.  Even if that is what's necessary to fix a problem, some people might want to schedule it when they are "ready".

I think I may just take my DVR to the Verizon store and swap it out, far less time and less frustration.  For the sake of science, I may try calling and asking for the reset TNS_2 suggested though. Gotta calm down first and get back to rational mode.

Weird to me that there is only one other person who has struggled with this problem.

What a very strange problem. While I could be mistaken, I believe the reset (reprogram) that you received was the one TNS_2 was suggesting. One thing I would try if you have to do it again is to upload your settings to the cloud.

DVR > Settings > Export Series to Cloud > OK

This setting should allow you to retain all your settings (or at least your Series), and import them after the reset/reprogram. Some users say that the import settings option is not readily offered, but a pop up will suggest the option to you the next time you attempt to set up a series recording.

Good Luck!

good suggestion, lacticacidtrip - I took your advice and uploaded settings to the Cloud.

After taking a break, I called "support" staff again. I asked to have scheduled events deleted, said was OK to delete everything other than programs already recorded on my DVR. He did a reset/restore that wiped out only basic settings (favorites, TV/DVR settings), did not affect Scheduled Events, nor DVR program content.

Only change was that the "Manual Recording" has now moved up yet again one more day from July 8 to July 9. So, I'm assuming on July 9 my DVR will again quit recording anything.

Upon pressing, he said he could refer the issue to a "Network " person and gave me a reference number, supposed to contact me within 48 hours.

It took 30 minutes to get to this point. Sigh

I'll report back, although it seems only two people have experienced this problem. Very curious indeed.

I stand corrected - seems there are THREE people reporting this problem here (not two). Still ...

I'm already wishing I had just brought the box in for a replacement! All those TCM movies I have stored will be broadcast again eventually.

Two days, and counting. More automated calls from Verizon asking if my problem is solved (press 1 or 2), then get put on hold. Frustrating that the calls come to my cell phone, not gonna wait 20 minutes there (and I removed cell number from my Profile, they seem to have captured it anyway). When I return the call via land line - I just get someone who knows nothing about the problem, they read the notes, and repeat that a "network technician" will be contacting me. Took 20 minutes to get that information. Sigh.

posting status to keep this thread alive in hope that someone will turn up who knows how to resolve (other than have entire DVR contents wiped and hope problem doesn't recur). I'm thinking wait a couple more days and swap out the DVR for new box. Meanwhile am busy watching saved programs (like hula performance, those don't turn up very often, lol)

I just received my own 1980 bug. Thankfully it appears to have just been a momentary glitch. I had CH 128 (Ice Road Truckers) scheduled for this Sunday at 10pm. As I was thumbing down through the schedule, the details of this event read as follows:

I immediately panicked, thinking of both the channel zero postings about schedulings failing to record, and the 1/5/1980 glitches that are preventing any recordings from happening. But thankfully after snapping this pic, I returned to the listing and everything appeared normal again.

So is this a Guide issue or a DVR issue?
