My DVR won't fast forward to end of a recorded program. At about 5 minutes to the end I have to slow down to 2X. At about 1 minute plus
it won't fast forward at all. It is frustrating to wait to get to end to delete. Any solutions?

Yeah, I think that change is better than leaving it like it was, I have tried fast forwarding a number of times to get to the part of a recording near the end that I wanted to see and wound up reaching the end by mistake and having to start over.
But I am confused about fast forwarding to the end to delete. Whenever I am watching a recording and decide I don't want to see any more, I just hit the Stop button on the remote, and right there I am given the option to Delete the recording if I want to. Why not do that? Or have I not understood the issue?

Not sure about the fast forward stuff ...
But why not just stop the playback of the recording and then go into the DVR menu, select the program, and then select "DELETE" (you may have to scroll down on the list of options available).

He's not looking to delete the program. I know what he is talking about. Verizon recently changed this because when you used to fast forward, it would go all the way to the end and then you would get the menu and have to start from the beginning again, so they changed it to this I guess as a compromise.

Funny ... I took the phrase "It is frustrating to wait to get to end to delete" to mean he wants to get rid of the program and thus the reason for my answer.
The fast forward thing, I understand what you mean ... and yes, I believe it was a compromise to avoid accidentally overshooting the end of a program and needing to go all the back to the beginning again and fast forward when you had intended only to skip a few seconds ahead.

My apologies Lasagna. He did say delete, I didn't notice it, but like Justin said, why does he want to go to the end to delete it? I guess that's why I answered like i did, I just thought he wanted to get to the end.

Well, for the first time I experienced something similar tonight. I was watching a program while also recording it via the scheduled recordings list. Just before the program ended, I rewound to midway in the recording, viewed for 2 minutes, and then tried to Stop. It did not work, the playback continued and would not stop. Fast-forward would not work either. Wait... it gets stranger..... Then I navigated to the program list and deleted the program.... Well the playback still would not stop. My only option was to navigate to the guide. Can this be a bug in the "compromise" changes maybe???

I think you got caught up in the "live" buffer and not so much the recorded content piece (you can't "delete" the buffer). Definitely weird behavior, but I've run into something similar as well at times but haven't been able to consistently reproduce it. I found that it seems to regain it's sanity if you change the channel (provided you aren't recording two things already) and come back -- probably since that causes the STB to dump the live content buffer..

I find this extremely frustrating as many times I want to FF through the closing credits on a show and simply get to see the coming attractions for the next episode. With the way they have it now it seems like it takes forever!
