One other thing I would like to see done.

On my sons TV I set it to the "Kids"  preset stations. But that gets reset all the time. Its way to easy to go back to all channels by hitting the c button. I would  like to see that as part of the parental control locks.

I was spoiled w/cable & didn't know it!!

  1. I could add external storage,
  2. Picture-in-Picture,
  3. a guide that worked,
  4. front A/V input jacks that worked!
  5. Easily edit recoding settings to get around conflicts for 61 minute shows!

I've had FiOS TV for 3 days & I want my cable TV back.  😞

My request...Please keep programs listed on reminders until the show is over.  Since I like to switch around, as is, I have to write them down on a piece of paper- hassle!

Reminders are a brilliant feature and should be more accessible. Time/Warner lists them with one simple click on OK.  It would be better if the reminder came up at the bottom of the screen, not in the middle interrupting your viewing.  And stayed there until I cleared it.  As is, it disappears and if I'm not in the room, setting it was all for nothing.

The guide could use a lot of improvements as well.  It's very cluttered and would be much easier if you had the option to list by channel, not just time.  This way you can quickly see what's on for the night and set reminders. As is, you have to continually scroll back and forth for each channel.  It takes forever and simply not worth the effort.

Thank you.

I agree 100% with this.  DirecTV and Comcast have this.  Please add it.  Thank you!

Great thread.

First, I would agree with all of the above. I would like to see external storage, the ability to control my HM DVR from the back rooms if I have to, PiP, list by channel in the guide, etc.

I would like to see the STB have the ability to pass the signals it receives natively to the TV. Let's just say the upgrade birdie visits and gives me a new TV (or receiver), I would like the TV (or receiver) to deinterlace and/or scale if it has a better chipset that the STB.

Here is one that is pie in the sky right now, but hey, I would love to see this ---> Blu-Ray VOD. I don't necessarily want this for the 1080p video (I have a 720p TV  Smiley Sad ) yet, however I can take full advantage of the audio. I know it would be tough, but hey GET TO WORK!!!! Smiley Wink All I want is the ability to rent for 24  hours BD quailty audio and video. Maybe have it download the movie and the user selected audio to a HDMI 1.3 DVR (so Motorola GET TO WORK on that Quad Tuner QAM/IP Hybrid 1.5TB DVR), and then begin the 24 hour time after which it gets deleted. $12.99(?) per movie. If you really want Motorola to work, maybe give the next generation STB the ability to decode True HD and DTS-HD MA.Let's go and get this to market first, and the 100MB Internet. I want to fill that strand of glass!!!

Yes, I did sneak in a quad tuner. Not a real biggie, but I could see a time where I would want to watch hockey game, and maybe record a couple of more.

I also notice that VZ supports some VZW phones for the Mobile Remote DVR. How about making a mobile enabled web page for those of us that may have PDA/Smartphones from Verizon Wireless (like me, with a Palm 700wx (soon to be a Touch Pro or that Samsung) and the other carries.

Oh yeah, and buy out Vodaphone from VZW and then consolidate the VZ web pages to where I only have one login. I have a .net, .com, and VZW login.

btw, thanks for the customer advisory panel and this forum.

one other thing... can the STB keep its setting when there is an update? This morning my wife turned on MSNBC, and it was in nasty stretch-o-vision. It seems like every so often I need to reset the SD Override Settings and turn it off.

 * I would like to be able to set recordings from the remote STB's to the home media DVR, be able to browse the guide on a remote (bedroom) TV & select future recordings.

I love all the ideas in this thread so far, keep up the great work!

My biggest priorities are:

2a, b, and c.  Specifically "2a" with the "new" icon idea that Cheryl had.  It needs to be IN THE GUIDE!

3c, g, h, and i.  3h is a big one and these playback glitches should be fixed as soon as possible!

Also, to elaborate on the first request that Tim made in post 38, DISH implements a very nice version of this feature that would be worth looking at.  Say, for example, that you want to record a series like Top Chef on Bravo that airs several reruns per week, and often several each day.  The DISH DVR schedule list would show every scheduled recording as highlighted and every rerun or repeat in gray.  This way, you could go to the list of scheduled recordings, cancel the scheduled recording, and the next rerun of that same show would automatically highlight as it would now be scheduled to record. You could look at the entire list of the show and decide which one you wanted to record, select it, and the DVR would cancel the rest and turn them gray.  This was also very helpful if you wanted to know why a particular show did not record.  You could go back several days and look to see why it didn't record because it was either canceled or a rerun.  It was very helpful for resolving conflicts because if you knew a scheduled show was going to have a rerun a few hours later or the next day you could easily postpone recording it.

This is more programming, but start talking with DirecTV (nudge them to talk to the NFL as well!!!) about sharing the "exclusivity" of Sunday ticket for the 2011 season. It may be corporate collusion, but there are a number of people, who like me, rent and do not have exclusive areas of access to place a dish, and the property manager doesn't want all those dishes up on the roofs.

Now I am totally dreaming, but hey..

I'd like that feature too, but from numerous posts on other forums, it seems that the current Motorola Boxes that Fios uses do not have the ability to do that at all .. It's not a feature that is "hidden", "disabled" or "shut off" in the firmware, simpy waiting for a VZ "update".

I tend to keep mine on 1080i "most" of the time, since the "majority" of HD stations use that format, & at least those signals will be "native",  but I will occasionally go into the settings & switch to 720p if I'm watching , for example, "Lost" , or other important shows on ABC/ESPN/Disney/FOX /NAtGeo/CW & the other networks & channels that use 720p native signals.

Likewise I keep the 480i override on "480i", allowing those SD signals to pass thru unaltered & let the TV, rather than the box,  do the upconverting.
