I have been having freezing issues on my HD DVR STB for a long time. When watching live TV the picture will freeze for up to about a minute then start playing again at a new point of time and I miss however much happened in that time frame. I also as a result of this issue have traded in my old box for a new one and continue to have the same issue. Any ideas???
Low signal and or errors at that coax outlet. Could be any one of the many connections between the set-top box and the main splitter or the splitter itself is failing. Unfortunately this would take a VERY long time to troubleshoot without the proper tools. A tech with a test meter could probably find the issue in a few minutes. You may get charged if the problem is your home wiring (much like a plumber or electrician etc) but it will save you lots of time and hassle.
