Hi bmurph

This is a peer-to-peer forum, meant mostly for the exchange of ideas and tips between members. While there are a couple of tech support people who occasionally post here, your issue may not be within their realm of expertise.

However, if you will post the details of your issue, perhaps one of them could assist you.

Hello bmurph. I suspect since this is your first post that you are new to these forums. The forums are a great way for others who have experinced the same problems you are having to help out. To help you, though, more information is needed. What is the specific problem? What is your equipment setup? Also, a search of these forums will no doubt reveal the same trouble has appeared before and may reveal the solution offered to another. Good luck, and let us know how things turn out. Thank you.

First of all ,I'd like to say I am sorry, for losing my mind. But I have a good one for you. The problem i been having is the 7100 HD box will not respond to the remote.After a week or so of online and landline tech, They sent me a new STB . Plug it in ,go through acctivation, SAME THING . STB will not respond to remote. Then I lost it !!! ,  Today 1/7  finally got a tech to my house. He checks out the problem,CONFIRMED. He goes to the truck and gets another STB. SAME THING . STB will not respond to remote. Now the both of us are baffled. OK ,Lets try this STB downstairs. Plugs it in NO PROBLEM works fine. Back upstairs we go ,plug it in don't work. Now lets try pluging the STB into another outlet accrose the room, seems to work .  It apeers that my 32 inch SAMSUNG mod# LN-3232H is causing interference with the remote. If we moved the STB aprox. 5 feet away from the TV it works fine but under the TV no responds. Even the tech could'nt believe this as he tried to explain it to his boss via a call wondering whats taking him so long at my address. Anyway back out to the truck to get a STB with DVR, Plugs it in seem to be working fine. (Still pending acctivation) Tech tells me these MOTO 7100 HD are new and may not have proper shieding to to prevent interference from certen types of LCD TVs   {edited for privacy}

BMURPH,

As RETIREDME said, most problems people are experiencing have been dicussed before.  YOUR issue - the TV interfering with remote operation HASS been discussed before.  Try doing a search and see what the outcome was.

The other problem, and one of the reasons I'm waiting to make the switch to Verizon, is that some Samsung TV's have "handshake" issues with the STB when connecting via the HDMI cable.

Good luck!

Hello again, Bmurph. You are experiencing the old "Samsung Jammer Syndrome" that many others have already. I personally returned two model 850's for a different brand to eliminate this frustration. It's fairly well documented that the Samsung (and a few other brands) have this problem. The exact causes are undetermined, but good guesses could point to very thin bezels, often glass such as on the Samsung, that let IR leak out and affect other controllers. I tried several Rube Goldberg fixes since my glass bezel and glass TV stand were IR-transparent - principally, I put a dense piece of dark construction board under the TV to block the IR since my 7216 DVR was on a shelf under the TV. This worked mostly. I do not have the controller issue with the new TV. I would suggest shielding the STB somehow and see if that works. Good luck.  Thank you.

There have been some issues with plasma's interfering with the remotes too.  Some have found that changing the picture from vivid to standard corrected the problem
