I agree with you -- network connectivity is a welcome addition to the HDMI spec.
Note we aren't likely to see HDMI 1.4 in any STB/DVR products shipped before 2011.

How many times are they going to change it? How many new devices are we going to buy with the new version that will be obsolete next year? HDMI seems like more of a failure and headache than it's worth.

Just buy a wifi adapater for the Ethernet device or most of the devices will have WIFI built in. Nobody is going to connect via LAN cable anymore

Not true, I stay away from wifi. Only thing with it is my cell phone. Wifi is not a consistent signal, plus having a gigabit switch beats everything out.

Yeah,
WiFi has its place, of course, and I use on several laptops in the home, but it has its drawbacks. It's slower than ethernet, subject to inconsistent signals due to environmental factors, and far less secure, regardless of what kind of encryption you use. Give me a hard wire over radio waves for video anytime.

its 1.2 I believe, 60hz
