All of a sudden recently (last 3 weeks) I have to unplug the cable box to get HDMI working. I know there is nothing wrong with my HDMI cable and port as I have no issues with any other devices. I have searched on the internet and found that I am not alone with this issue; seems there are many many with the issue using all brands of TVs. (It is also becoming more frequent..)
I did not have this issue with Cable vision and the frustration is starting to build... I am NOT going to components as I am not going to deal with the mess of wires and I expect the technology to work; especially when other cable and satellite provides that are available to me can.
I can accept Verizon acknowledgeing the issue and would stay a customer if they did and provided me with a "we are fixing the issue and will provide a fix whe..."..

Ya, I posted a thread on this a week ago. Picked up a Samsung and connected with HDMI, thus problems. I have a small LCD (Vizio) connected via HDMI for the past year and lost signal off and on. Thought it was the HD DVR but now I know.
I totally agree that component cables is a "cop-out" response to this issue. I used component 10 years ago with my 1st HD TV along with an antenna picking up local digital signals. Someone must tell Verizon, you're only as good as your vendors (Motorola) and contractors.
For me, if I unplug/re-plug the box(s), I get the signal for another day or two. I've placed an on/off switch so I actually don't have to run behind the TV. However, if it continues I'll go back to old provider.
Good luck, I posted another thread to see if a new Audio receiver that uses HDMI (with 1080p up-conversion) would help, but no response.

This isn't even an issue specific to Motorola boxes. I have the same exact problem between my PS3 and my Vizio LCD TV. I have to power cycle my TV in order to get the picture back. I looked up that issue on the net and different people experience it on different TVs but it will work with no problems on another TV where they are.
Honestly, I would say it's an issue with HDMI in general. And component cables don't have that kind of issue.

I had this issue for a while with my Sony AV receiver. I would have to unplug/back panel power it off and on and the problem goes away.
HDMI is a stupid protocol. It gives no feedback as to why it isn't working, it just goes black
I have not seen the problem from any HDMI device TO my AV receiver and no Fios or Comcast for that matter, hdmi problems to my TV's
Also, my HDMI tivoHD units work fine. My BellTv Rcvr and Dish Rcvr are also HDMI and have exhibited no problems
Most of my equipment is connected 150 feet away in an av closet, using Cat-5e cable and HDMI to Cat-5e baluns. Which works very well!
But one TivoHD, 1 Fios STB and 1 tivoHD are directly connected.
So, I guess, I should feel lucky.

You might be trying to pirate that signal and make an "unauthorized" copy of it.
Blame the MPAA and Hollywood. All that encryption on that link manages to do is screw it up for the vast majority of users. Those that are going to pirate it are going to do it anyway. But it makes them feel better about it.
