Help with Verizon FIOS Remote Control - text with number keys

My FIOS remote has number keys that look like they can also be used for text input.  However, I can't seem to figure out how to actually use the number keys for text input.  It would be much easier to use the number keys instead of having to scroll to each individual letter when I am searching for a program or a movie.

 

Is this function available?
