How is HD DVR installed / connected

I'm scheduled for a FIOS TV install soon and I'm wondering if the DVR(s) need to be connected to the router. I'v been told they do by the person I placed the order with. Then I was told they don't be another person. 

If the DVR does need to be connected is it via the coaxe(sp)?

A splitter is installed from the main ONT. From there one coax goes to the router and the others to all your boxes.
