We just had FIOS installed, including a fancy HD box on the downstairs TV and a little black plastic "digital adapter" on the old TV upstairs.
Both TV's have the problem of having to surf through hundreds of "unsubscribed" channels to get to the ones I'm paying for. Downstairs, we solved this by creating a "Favorites" list with only the channels we get. Upstairs, though, it's almost impossible to surf the channels - not only is the digital adapter painfully slow to switch but it also has an additional 50 or so dead channels that look like screenshots from the downstairs TV.
Is there any was to get the (little black plastic) digital adapter to only show the channels we get?
Is there some other way to make it surf more pleasantly (short of buying a new TV)?

The digital adapter is a very basic box. You can't do what you are asking with it.
