I'm so glad this was brought up. Horrible!! Can't see what is what any more. Some nights I scroll looking for red when I want a movie. Some nights I scroll looking for green. My guide went goth after the update. Fix it please and soon.

Well, for those complaining it is too dark, at least you can see that much. Right now, my STB won't respond to any button commands on the remote except for Info and it prompts for a Parental Control pin to be created or cancel. If I create one, nothing happens. If I cancel it, nothing happens as far as other button pushes are concerned. Contacted support...spent 15 minutes on hold the first time, was told eventually it was a known software bug with the release and they were working to patch it with no ETA for when they would have it fixed. Now, the box reboots itself every 10ish minutes. After talking with support again after being on hold for 25 minutes, the problem remains and I'm supposed to get a tech support person to further troubelshoot it tonight. We shall see if that happens. The tech I spoke to said I should just use component into the TV...the problem with that is I firstly route everything through the home theater receiver and then I use a slingbox connected to the DVR. So, the component option isn't an option yet.

So, be thankful you can complain about the guide color. If I could ever get it to come up, I'd know what you're talking about. I have a feeling this is going to end with "We'll need to send you a new box" and "Sorry about you losing the 80+ hours of recordings you have." I don't really care so much about that but I'd like to think they test these updates thoroughly before actually deploying them and compensate you somehow if it doesn't (like letting me help beta test the streaming iPad app).

Well I must say I like it !! Much better than the old color, however would be nice if we could pick the colors.

I don't care about choosing colors - but DTV lets you choose between a few color schemes...

BUt I still hate the fact the HD channels and the equillivant non-HD chamnnel are miles apart - so channels like HBO are scattered in 2 locations...

Main menu>TV Lisitngs>Settings>Last Viewed Guide State>Enable

That should solve this problem>  "Also, the guide switches to "All Channels" each time you bring it up, even if you press option and select "favorites 1", the next time you press "guide" it brings up "All Channels" again. In the previous version you could set the guide to only show your "Favorites" channels and it would stay that way. Am I missing something here?"

I think so, but I am not sure what. I have 1.9.1, the Guide sticks with whatever list I choose, Favorites 1 or Full (I don't have a Favorites 2 defined at this time). My setting were preserved during the upgrade, mine works now just like it did with 1.9a.

What do you have set for?

Favorites Button - I have Toggle Flip by Favorites

Flip by Favorites - I have Favorites 1

Last Viewed Guide State - I have Enable

Modes - I have Enable

I am guessing one of those settings is causing your issue.

So, this just keeps getting better and better. I go and replace the set top box locally and then go to install it at home. It flashes all 8's on the clock part, flashes the dot in the right corner, then reboots back to the 8's again. Verizon support managed to get it to work with re-activating the box on their side and I was happy...for 10 minutes. After trying to re-enable the eSata drive, the unit rebooted and went right back to the all 8's and to the flashing dot thing again. Verizon's solution? We'll send someone out on Monday (I won't lie...they said they could tomorrow so I very much give them kudos for making that possibility even available). Then the support rep gives me a reference code so I can call and get some form of compensation for the issue. Of course I can't call them until Monday because they aren't in the office for the weekend. Frustrated? Yes, I very much am. But it's not their fault things break sometimes. It happens.

Granted, yes, I'm frustrated with this whole situation. I lose my DVR recordings and can't get my living room TV to work with their service. But, and I do have to say this much, the Verizon staff has been nothing less than professional and courteous in trying to help me fix this. I can't say enough about that. It's just really frustrating that I spent hours on the phone with support and then I'd have to call them to get some sort of compensation for all of it, which means more time on the phone that I really just don't have. My suggestion to improve this is to provide some kind of secure web access portal in which you get a number from the support staff agent, enter it, and then you can choose forms of compensation you'd like to have. To make sure people don't try abusing this, you could make sure it's reviewed by someone so they can make sure it's fair. Personally, money isn't my concern. Helping make the experience I spend my money on better for myself and others is. I'd just like to beta test stuff to try to get the best possible service for the dollar spent.

So, to summarize, while I am frustrated at he situation, it's not the end of the world and Verizon is doing what they can to get it fixed. I appreciate their efforts and applaud their professionalism.

Justin, I was replying to amdajo and geo25 who have that problem. (See their posts on 1st page) After it was upgraded on mine, I had the same problem so I fixed it.

Just received 1.9.1 this morning.  The color scheme is just plain awful.  It looks like someone turned contrast down to next to nothing.  Hard to make out the green color for sports, the red color for movies, and why are certain text and logos such as "new", "hd" and "general" faded out?

Please quickly add the option switch between the new and old color schemes.  That really cannot be more than a quick fix by some low level IT guy/gal.  At a time when Comcast is rolling out their new DVR guide, FiOS shouldn't go puking all over our screens, making things look like our TV colors have all been thrown to hell.

I'm fine with the darker color, I prefer is over the light blue. It would be nice though if they allowed us to pick our own color schemes, Comcast used let us. it's a nice feature Verizon should be looking into. They need to realize that they'll never be able to satisfy everyone as long as they lock us into one scheme. You will always get someone who will whine it's too dark, it's too light, etc.
