IMG Series Manager Not Scheduling Recordings

I have quite a few shows set in Series Manager.  The IMG default settings are for first run only and no duplicates.  CSI (LV) is set to record automatically, but when I checked tonight's schedule, it was not set to record.  When I hit record, it came up with a  conflict.  The conflict was CSI! But was not checked to record!? I set tonight's to record, but this is screwed up!  When Hope for Haiti was going to be on, I set it to record, and it kept deleting the recording setting.  I had to reset it every day.  I realize this is basically a computer and should work logically, but it either has serious bugs, or simply is screwed up.

The IMG has some serious issues with not recording programming.  This has only happened since 1.7 was downloaded to the box.  I refuse to call tech support, as they are no help at with the IMG.  All they do is reset the box and  possibly wipe out all the settings. 

I really wish little matters like this could be resolved by calling Verizon, but it is such a nightmare to call them, I cannot force myself to do it.

I just went through the guide and none of my series Manager shows had the check on them to record, but when I go to the preview schedule portion of the DVR, it says they are scheduled.  Problem is I don't know if they are or not by looking at the guide.  This is an HD DVR.  My SD DVR in the bedroom works fine.  It is only this great more expensive STB that is screwed up. It is a 7216.

I have encountered this anomaly at times as well. I have never discovered a solution. What I do now is try to manually check expected recordings at some point prior to the event. This includes going into the guide data and looking for the "new" designation on a program. Sometimes I try to force a recording by setting the DVR to record just that episode, but the machine refuses and says it's already scheduled, but no recording icon is visible. I do not know at what point in time prior to the event that the DVR decides to put the program on a list to be recorded. When I encounter a recording anomaly like this, I go to series Manager and delete the series, and then re-establish it anew. It usually works. But I spend a lot of time checking the guide and calendar, when the DVR should be doing that itself. Thank you.

I have also noticed that sometimes the recording does't show in the Guide since the IMG update. However, when I check the scheduled recordings list htey are there and record on time.

Have you tried rebooting the HDDVR? Pull the power cord, wait 15-20 seconds and plug it back in. Rebooting normally fixes little quirks like this.

The first thing I did was unplug the box for a reboot.  The STB was acting totally bizarre using the Series Manager last night.  I would delete a show from the Series Manager (Lost--they are all new now), then go to the guide to try to reset the "series recording" and it would tell me that the series was already scheduled!  I would go back to the Series Manager and it would be back, even after I deleted it.  This happened 5 times, and I thought I was losing my mind!  Finally, I moved it down in priority, and it let me delete it permanently then reset the series.  But this is a really annoying problem. Isn't that the point of having the Series Manager?  I use it a lot, and I do not want to have to check the guide constantly. 

Do you know if it actually records when the Preview Schedule shows the recording, but it is not checked in the guide schedule? I think the Series Manager is not communicating with the guide or something.  Could this be a 7216/1.7 issue?  It does not happen on my old 27 STB.  Does anyone know when the new HDDVR STBs are coming out?  Has anyone exchanged their STB to correct the problem?  If I am going to pay more for this STB, I feel that it really ought to work correctly.

Any input from the Verizon techs reading this forum would be appreciated.

I would try the live chat feature on the contact us page, its a lot faster than calling a CSR. Have them reload the software. It sounds like something didnt load right during the upgrade.

Here is a run down of my experience with your problem.

While browsing the guide, I saw that a show I knew was set to record wasn't listed as recording (in the guide). I hit the dvr button and went to the preview schedule. There I saw it was listed as scheduled. Went back to the guide, highlighted the show, and hit the record button. I also got the conflict/already scheduled meessage. I exited out and closed the guide. When I reopend the guide the show was marked as scheduled to record.

The few times I have seen this bug, the process has always been as I listed it. I have never had one of my shows not record.

So I finally had an entire day off and called tech support about the IMG/Series Manager issue, which persists to this day.  After my 25-minute requisite hold time, I got a very inexperienced man who had to keep leaving to ask the "smart guys" the questions.  Appears that all some these "tech support" guys do is answer the phone.  After a short discussion, he said the problem was "unsolvable".  If 1.7 was installed incorrectly, he said it could not be reinstalled!  Of course, it won't fix the issues on the other STB we have which is exactly the same problem.

His solution is to send another STB!  Oh, and then he said since my husband's name is on the account, he had to put HIS name on the delivery of the box to the large law firm where I work. He said he would transfer me to a department that could help me put my name on the account.  After I was transferred, the rep told me I AM on the account, and she did not have a clue what the tech was talking about! 

I have never experienced this level of incompetency with a company.  Verizon appears to be so busy getting new customers, they cannot afford competent people in tech support or customer service. Someone is supposed to be calling me back.  I am not holding my breath. 

The next call is to corporate--I have had it.  If the person I talk to there turns out to be as incompetent as those that they supervise, its back to Brighthouse. My contract is up in a month.
