I since the newest firmware upgrade I have experience occasional loss of video that last between 5 and 10 seconds. I can get the video if a change channels. I was wondering if anyone is having this issue and what can I do to solve it. Thanks.

MickeyS -  I have had the same problem with my last tv 50"SXRD and my new one Sony kdl52xbr6. I have the STB QIP 7216 and Verizon states that the handshake for HDMI is the cause and to fix this you have to downgrade to component. Imagine, they say downgrade instead of fixing the problem on the STB's. anyway, another problem you may also see is when you change the channel, the guide will say that you are on the channel you wanted to go to but the TV doesn't change and you are still watching the channel you wanted to leave. Seems to be a signal problem that is not recognized. To get the channel to chage simply hit the up or down channel button and then back to the channel you want. You would think since we pay so much $$ to Verizon they would come up with a better solution to these problems.

There are known HDMI interoperability issues with the QIP7216.  You need to use component until software is released to address that problem.

If you want to use HDMI today, then you'll need have the QIP7216 replaced with the older QIP6416.  The QIP6416 does not exhibit the same issues with HDMI.

downgrade to component.

Component video cables can support video resolutions up to 1080p. Vz STB's support up to 1080i (atm). I don't understand how it is a downgrade..

For some strange reason, I haven't seen it too often, maybe like every two hours or so, I don't know if that's happening to you too.

(Dowgrade to component) - HDMI is considered the best resolution and audio presented for HDMI and then componenet,  and S video. HDMI cables give tremendous throughput with no losss of signal. To the eye its subjective to who is watching.

6416 can have the same problem as the 7216. if you have a samsung tv ; contact samsung and ask for the hdmi handshake fix method, I heard they arent supplying the usb adapters anymore though. If you dont have samsung, it would still be recommended to ask if they have any firmware updates. otherwise component is the way to go ! Also we have the ability to send you the cables
