Lost Features when upgrading to Fios Quantum

I had Fios DVR, multi-room.

I upgraded to Fios Quantum - larger DVR, 6 channels at once, pause/play in any room.

However, I noticed that I have lost some function/features that I previously had:

- Auto tune to HD.  When I used to type in "2", I automatically got channel 502 (HD).  This is because I selected Auto-tune HD from the Menu/Settings/Television option.  This feature is not there any more.

- Info Button - is way downgraded.   No longer movie reviews from Rotten Tomatoes or Popcorn.

- Also lost "cast and crew" feature in Info.

Is there planned upgrade or one that I'm missing?

Can't understand why they downgraded my software features in an upgraded hardware product.

Any options?

Sounds like you haven't received the new guide update yet. Is your guide on Quantum blue? If so you should be getting an update on the 12th. Keep an eye on your email and message center in the menu a couple days prior to it which tells you you will be getting it. Most markets already have the new update, but the last of them are due for the 12th.

You'll get the black guide. Auto HD tune will also be a part of it.

The other features you mention I don't believe are a part of this update, but more are coming for quarter 2. There are a couple features on the new quantum guide/img that arent on the old boxes, but nothing to brag about.

The old boxes are much easier to update as they run off of java. The new quantum boxes are html5 so they have to be programmed an entire different way that's more complex.

I just rcvd my quantum upgrade. It took 3 weeks from when I ordered it! I also am missing those features. I REALLY enjoyed the cast and crew info. I miss it.

Autotune HD is a current feature of Quantum.

Agree that the other two are missing and hopefully upgraded soon.

Is there any intention to revise the Quantum TV guide so it has as much info as the older CHEAPER one had?

Specifcally cast and crew, and original air date of show being watched?

There is an update planned (hopefully soon) that is expected to bring a fair number of the STB features to the Quantum devices.

This sounds exactly like what I expected, and the reason I stopped here before "upgrading".

Verizon wants us to "upgrade" to Quantum, but for now, it's a downgrade.

The same thing happened to me with Cox, and it's the reason I left.  I had Cox for 15+ years and they talked me into the Contour "upgrade".  I had it for less than a week before I had FiOS in here replacing it.  Turns out that replacing my "OLD" Motorola DVR's was a huge, huge mistake.  I wanted to throw the thing out the ******* window.  I was pretty mad, because I really liked the service I was getting from Cox.  Now, for two years, I love the service I'm getting from Verizon, and at a better price.  But I always want the latest hardware, especially considering it lags about 5-10 years behind current tech.

But it seems like moving customers to "cheap crap" is the trend.  What a terrible business move.  Considering how much these companies rake in from monthly subscriptions, I'm surprised they don't want to make a much better impression with the hardware - it's a drop in the bucket compared to the services.

It has nothing to do with "cheap crap". Quantum is written in html5 not Java like the Legacy boxes. Html5 is way more complex. Would you rather then rush things out and end up with a ton of bugs like the intial quantum release had? At least with this upcoming update they are testing it and hopefully will not only fix past issues, but will give it features people have been wanting without any major bugs.

I, too, am disappointed with the loss of viewing the cast feature

I also miss each device having it's own recording capability.  With all recordings lumped together, someone could easily delete a program that someone else recorded and still wanted to watch.

When I think of improvements, I think of added features.....not features being removed.

I'm typing this respons over a year later and these features haven't been added back.  <sigh>
