Motorola QIP 7232 keeps rebooting

Our QIP 7232 reboots at least once a day at random times.  Tonight it did it twice in an hour.  Sometimes we are using the remote when it happens and other times it does it while we are just sitting there watching a show.  Is anyone else experiencing issues with their QIP 7232 STB?  Are there any known issues/fixes for this?

or for it. Best to swap it out for a diffe

You can do so by calling them, at a fios store, online through your account, or through the dvr menu under customer support > set top box exchange.

If you have not already returned it, two quick questions for you. Do you have an external hard drive connected and have you checked the temperature where you are storing the DVR/External Drive? If the temperature is too high this may cause the Drive/DVR to crash and reboot. It seemed to be happening to me and when I moved the gear around to get better air flow this problem went away. Give it a try before getting a new one and losing all your old shows.

Your post mentioned external hard drive.  What was concern about external hard drive?  Will an external hard drive help or hurt heat?

(If anyone else knows what the poster was likely thinking, feel free to post because it has been a while.)
