Multi Room DVR connection

Got a new set top box yesterday for my game room.  We have the multi room DVR so we should be able to watch recorded shows in both rooms.  My question is why do the instructions indicate you have to hook up the STB with component cables instead of an HDMI cable?  The back of the STB has an HDMI input....

No idea why it says that but you can use the HDMI cable.
