My multi room DVR has been acting up lately. First, the recordings when played is skipping, this happens intermittently. Second, the fan started to run continuously, non-stop 24 hrs. The only way to stop it is to unplug the box from the wall. This is really annoying since the fan is so loud that it bothers me when watching a show.
I think I need a replacement DVR or better yet an upgrade. What is the latest multi room DVR set top box?
Will I be charged for a replacement?
I have called the support unfortunately I was on the phone for 15 mins waiting and decided to just post my issue here.
I believe walt178's answer is correct. I would add that which of the 4 models of DVR you would receive as a replacement (and whether or not it is an upgrade/downgrade) depends more on which channel package you have, which area you live in and the fact that you have other Motorola STBs (all factors beyond your control). But in general, you'll get whatever they have in stock when your exchange is processed. To guarantee an upgrade you must pay the $40 fee.
As for your noisy fan, the first thing to do is make sure that the unit has adequate ventilation (2 inches on all sides). If it does, then it probably has to be replaced. You are not the only one with this issue. Please go here to add your voice and your vote for a fix.
