While I was on vaca my house sitter apparently bought a movie instead of renting it. Verizon won't take it off my bill (gee thanks, my local cable co wouldnt' have done that).
My first criticism is that people don't read and they don't understand what that is, trust me on that one. And I notice when you go to rent, the first option is buying, so i imagine it's not hard to just press select and pick that one. That's probably what happened, who knows.
I cannot find a way to block this. All I can seem to do is set up a pin for all purchases, but what I want to do is disable movie buying functions and keep rentals available. This way I can avoid this problem.
I still don't like any of the restriction controls (parental controls are completely unusable) and now this. So frustrating especially since refunds aren't given.

You can block all purchases. Its under parental controls. You do have to activate parental controls, but you don't actually have to restrict any ratings. You then activate puchase control using either the same pin or a different pin.

yeah but then you can't rent either.. you have to purchase the rental..
i hate to say it but all of today's technology isn't always better.. the best way to do it is to bypass it completely and put a note on the tv telling the house sitter not to purchase a movie, only rent it.. and to be careful making sure it's only a rental..

You can buy or rent with the pin. Stops basic mistakes and unauthorized purchases.

I have the same problems. While I was asleep my 7 year-old nephew purchased Despicable me not once but twice.

Hi LoveFiosWhenWk,
I would imagine that you could get Verizon to remove the second purchase (and maybe the first). But as stated above, the only prevention would be to set up parental controls to require a PIN for purchases.
