Pixelating

I am getting quite a bit of brief, but annoying, pixelation on multiple channels.  Is that coming from FIOS or the provider of the channel?

If its on multiple channels, its in the house.  Try reseating coax at the stb and the splitters in your household before doing anything.  Is it at only one STB or multiple cable boxes? That can change where you would start troubleshooting.

is it pixelating when you first tune in the channel?

lately, i have been getting this bizarre pixelation on hd channels during fast moving sequences (like if someone quickly moves their head). it will just kinda 'skip' or something really difficult to describe.

anyone experiencing somthing like this?

To answer an early question - I only have one STB.

I guess Chalewa4bambu's question was the accepted solution?  I'm having a tough time getting my arms around that but that's ok - it's probably just me.

Hi zooky and chalewa4bambu,

I've unchecked the "Accepted Solution" for the thread, since you've both recognized the fact that it's not resolved.

This HD pixelation and audio drop-out problem is clearly pretty widespread.. I've had the same issues since August 2008. That's right, AUGUST! I get irritating pixelation on various HD channels intermittently on both of my TVs. Tech support couldn't solve the problem over the phone. No amount of unplugging cables and resetting STBs is going to help.  I've had 4 technicians to my home. All the equipment is fine (STB, ONT, Cables, etc.). We even tried an attenuator for kicks. No luck.

Here's the thing. Two of the Verizon techs were nice enough to call me from the local office after they had left my home. They confirmed that they saw the same pixilation issues on the TV's in their local facility (I live in Northern NJ). So they established it was probably a feed issue. That was 3 months ago. I still have pixelation and audio drop outs on at least 8 HD channels. I've opened 5 separate tickets on this issue. And after a tech comes out and confirms that there's nothing wrong here, Verizon calls and says the ticket is now closed.

They're closing tickets even though the problem isn't being solved. So then I call again and all they want to do is send another tech out. It's a ridiculously infuriating cycle.  I'm pretty much at my wit's end here. It seems like Verizon is aware of the issue, but can't solve it. Has anyone with intermittent pixelation on their HD channels seen the problem stop completely? If so, can you please let me know how you were able to resolve this mystery. Thank you.

Redfran you're not alone, having exact same issue.  There are days where there isn't an issue, then on some days it will pixelate for short bursts over a small area, but it will do it every few seconds on multiple channels.

It's always an HD channel, usually between channels 620 and 680, for instance I've never seen it happen on Speed HD (583) and I watch that channel often.

I have 2 HD boxes, a 6416 (DVR) and 6200, I don't use the TV with the 6200 oftern so I may have just missed it, but I never remember seeing the issue on the 6200, again, it may happen there too, I've just never seen it.

All the equipment is fine and it's had this issue with 2 6416 STB's now.

I also live in N. New Jersey.

Next time you have FiOS over, ask them to try attenuating the signal to see if that makes a difference.

I have one of the original Motorola 610 ONTs (which output a stronger signal), but if I connect a Motorola STB or DVR to this ONT, without any attenuation in between, then I too see pixelization.
