Okay... I damaged the QIP-7100 and Verizon sent me a replacement STB but it's a QIP-6200. What's the difference?  Currently running the activation.

To you, as a consumer... no real difference

The 7xxxx series have an FCC mandated CableCard installed, and a bit more RAM

other than that,  basically the same

some say the SD picture is better on one, than another, but I think they are crazy... who watches SD on an HDTV 😛

the 7100 also has a IR remote thing if you want to hide the stb built in, but I Think you can still buy an IR remote system that will work with the 6200.  cosmetically they are virtually identical, the 7100 also supports 7.1 surround where I Think the 6200 does 5.1 only, and 7.1 has some future enhancements that aren't even being talked about in any meaningful way, so for ALL intents and purposes they are identical, the only "noticeable" difference is if you are putting it on a TV that has a pretty nice 7.1 sourround sound system that its connected too.  if it's just TV to STB and that is it, then you won't notice any difference.

ok. thank you for answering my question.  But i'm still disappointed with Verizon for down grading me equipment since the bill each month is enormous.
