Rebooting the box

I have been having a lot of problems lately with my cable service.  Our cable freezes and the only way to resolve the problem is to reboot the box.  What is going on?  I shouldn't have to keep doing this!  I have a five year old autistic son and believe me, when this happens, it sets him off into a very unhappy and tearful tantrum.  I'm paying a lot of money for this service and I feel as if I'm not getting my money's worth!  Very unhappy!!
