Reminder option?

 I switched from Comcast to Verizon and am looking for a reminder option for TV shows, that will pop up when the show is close to viewing time. IS there a similar option with Verizon?

All non-DVR boxes have reminders and with the latest update to 1.9 (not deployed in all markets yet) even the DVR now has a remionder function.

Go to the guide, select INFO and one of the options should be SET REMINDER.
