Remote and STB

How do I get the volume controls on the remote to control the volume on the STB? The remote sensor on the TV does not work and I would prefer to set the TV volume on a certain level and use the STB to raise or lower the volume. Thanks! I have the HD DVR receiver and the FIOS TV remote control model # RC 144 5302/00B

Yes it is possible.

There is a little foldup booklet that should have come with the remote, it is the one that has all of the device codes, etc. In there is the procedure to change what device controls the volume:

1) Press and hold the STB key.

2) While holding down the STB key, press OK.

3) Release both keys. The Device Keys will all blink twice.

4) Press 9 - 5 - 5. The STB key will blink twice.

5) Press the STB key (if that is the device you want to control the volume).

That should do it, at least it does on my DVR, just tested it. If you want to go back to the Volume key controlling the TV volume, hit the TV key in Step 5.

While it will work, keep in mind that the volume control in the STB only controls the analog audio outputs.  If you are using HDMI or SPIDF audio, this will have no effect (except when volume is set to zero the digital audio will be muted).
