Is everyone who is seeing the ads on 1.9.4? I'm not seeing any ads on my guide. Nothing at the bottom and the only thing on top is the tv guide logo in the top right corner.
No, I am on 1.9.5 and I see the ad at the bottom. And it is not "ads", it is one ad at a time, across the whole bottom of the Guide, about the height of one channel entry on the Full Guide. What is advertised changes over time when I hit the Guide button on the remote, it doesn't change every time, and it doesn't seem to change while I am viewing the Guide,
And by the way, I do not see any ad if I switch to the Channel Guide format.

@PJL wrote:...and, per your prior post, you are not seeing the ads either. So we need to hear from someone who is seeing the ads at the bottom of the guide.
Come on! Please go back and re-read my post:
As I clearly said, I DO see an ad (one, that changes periodically) at the bottom.

+1 . The add needs to go. The guide is busy enough without added clutter. Verizon, your getting the reverse reaction from this subscriber. I

Pressed my DVR button today and a giant
RIOS VS PACQUIAO
covered my entire screen. Annoying.

I got home last night and saw that ad at the bottom of the channel guide and was extremely ticked! I went through all the options I could find and turned off just about everything possible and rebooted the box. It's still there! I'm not paying all this money monthly to look at ads. I hope someone finds out if this can be removed otherwise I'm going to have to start shopping for a new provider.

I googled this issue hoping to find any dialogue on this topic. I have the same issue on the ad at the bottom since yesterday when my STB ran an update. Apparently Verizon really wants me to check out Disney movies. I spent a lot of time scrolling through any and every option that may relate, but alas none of my disabling and turning off changes that ad banner at the bottom of the screen
I know some people don't care, as one poster said no big deal. Luckily all humans are not exactly the same, so for some of us it's not so much of a 'big life deal' but an annoyance we feel evertime we hit the guide button. I want as much real estate as possible for those listings. Clearly that old saying, the only thing you can count on is death and taxes, needs to add software updates.
About a year ago I had an issue with small annoyances on some interface changes and I called Verizon and explained what had changed and why it mattered. Within a few months those issues were reversed. I assume many customers called and they paid attention. I suggest we all take the time to call, even if it means a 10 minute wait on the phone, and voice our displeasure. Maybe enough calls will impact their decisions and reverse the change.
As soon as I hit the 'Post' button that's what I'm going to do.

I agree with your comments about the new guide. They downgraded it instead of upgrading. The channel guide used to have a scroll bar at the top that would show how far the current program had progressed in relation to the next show in the lineup. I like this feature and they removed it and put in useless ads. They have no interest in feedback from customers either. They don't give a rats **bleep** what you or I think about what they've done. They just do it and leave no customization options for us if we don't like it.. Typical large monopoly. They give us free HBO to shut us up but it cost them $0.00. After the year ends we'll lose HBO and be stuck with the downgraded service. Just in time for a rate increase. Don't you love America? We need another Teddy Roosevelt to break up these corporate trusts.

Yes, I agree with HBGirl - we should take the time to notify Verizon of why it's a problem. Phone call is tough because it takes so long and I'm never sure if the person actually understands/cares/reports the issue. I recall there is a place somewhere online that we can do this, I'm gonna poke around and try to find that.
As to why it matters - for me it matters because the banner at the bottom takes up space (that could be better used to show me an extra channel) and it's large/bright and distracting. I came here hoping to find a way to get rid of it ... guess we're stuck with it for now. Personally, I'd just like to see the most channels and scheduling info possible, nothing else (I don't even want the little screen with what's on now)

Don't have the update yet, but if you all think that one ad at the bottom of the guide is bad, don't ever switch to DirecTV. You'll be jumping out windows will all the ads thrown into their programming guide.
