Most of the ads can be turned off.

Look under menu-settings.

Things like recommendations, pop-ups, etc.

About the only thing that can't are the "channels" in the guide that are ads.

try this:

 

1. Navigate to [Menu>Settings>Notifications>Promotions]
2. Select Disable and press the OK button.
3. Once Disable is checked, press the exit button.
