I recently upgraded one of my standard set top boxes to a HD Box (QIP 6200-2) and have been frequently losing the signal to the TV. I called Verizon who explained that there was a compatibility issue with Samsung TV (and two other manufacturers). The only way to regain the signal is to do a hard reset on the STB (using the Verizon site... or cycling poers). Has anyone else been expericening similar issues? If so did you get a permanent fix.
I spoke with the folks at Samsung and they are not firmware upgrade/updates for my TV (26" LCD: LN-S2651D).
Thanks,

What you may want to try is Composit Cables which carry the HD signal through them as well they are the Red, Blue, and Green Cables.

I am very unhappy about being told that there are compatibility problems with Verizon's STB and Samsung televisions. A message came up on my tv saying "Not supported Mode" When I called in to tech support, they said I would have to go to the Samsung website and download some updated software from my computer to the television. Samsung doesn't have any upgrades for my Samsung LCD HD 32". I was then told to use the Red, blue Green component cables instead of the HDMI cable- But now my input reads Cable 3 not component - now I feel like I'm not really getting true HD reception. My regular cable channels are better and clearer than the HD channels- I am asking, Why am I paying $151 a month to Verizon when their set top box can't support my Samsung tv's? There really should be a fix with the Verizon box to accommodate ANY AND ALL TELEVISIONS. Please send any suggestions to help me.
Thanks,
A disappointed FIOS customer

I currently have a Motorola STB with FIOS non DVR. I had a Motorola box (it may have been the same model) with Comcast.
With comcast the Samsung TV and the Motorola box, hooked up with DVIout from the box to HDMI on the TV, I never had signal drop outs.
Now with FIOS it happens at least once a week. I've had the tv off and the STB still on and when I turn the tv on, the signal is gone.
It has happened when I was watching an HD channel.
Cycling the power fixes it every time.

I also upgraded to QIP 6200-2 and I have a Samsung LN37A450. We lose the signal every 1-2 days. The only way to resolve this is to power down the STB and re-boot. I would hope that Verizon has contacted Motorola to see if a firmware upgrade can correct this problem.

I don't see how this problem is stated as "Solved" when the recommended solution is to downgrade to an inferior technology. When I was with Time Warner, I never had to do a hard reset from the STB since there was never an issue. Both Verizon and Time Warner use the same hardware although the driver and software are written by each company. This is truely a Verizon issue and they should step up and admit it. I would also like to point out that I currently play my Blu-Ray movies through my computer with hdmi connection to my samsung LNT5781 and never had any issues.
In summary, any components other than Verizon STB worked as designed when connected to my tv via hdmi. This is a Verizon issue and they need to fix it as it will bring down their Fios effort. Using component cables is a work around but not the solution.
