I just got scamed from Verizon.

Before I got Direct TV service along with cable service, internet and home phone service via internet, then Verizon came along with their FIOS offer , it looked great, the price was just way better than what I was paying at that time......the only problem is that they didnt explain I'll be paying extra moneys for top boxes, fees, taxes, etc.....Now Im paying more money than before, the internet was suppose to be faster....is not......the TV is suppose to be better....I loose audio and sometimes video.....in general is being a bif dissapoitment.....I got the second bill and they still charging me money for "pro-rated services"...the bill is so confusing that I spent 45 minutes with a customer service person and still the money they charged me can't be change. FIOS IS BIG yes is A  BIG SCAM.

All the literature I've ever seen disclosed the fact that there are additional taxes, fees and STB rental charges with FiOS TV service.  These taxes and fees are required to be included by Verizon.

My bill is very clear.  There is one section that summarizes all charges, and then in the breakdown of charges area it lists the service package price, partial month service charges (if applicable), add-on voice services (like unlisted number charges), TV additional services (like the STB rental, HBO, etc.), Internet additiona services (like the security package), and then taxes (which is broken into TV and voice charges).  Again, all of the taxes are mandated charges that apply to all land-line voice lines and TV (cable) franchises.  Finally, there is a summary of which Verizon provider (Verizon state, Verizon long distance, Verizon online, Verizon wireless, and other providers) gets which portion of the charges listed in the detail section.

and with regards to the STB's not being included in the base price, that is kinda standard operating procedure for all cable and satellite providers.  if I go to dish or directv I See plans as low as 19.99 a month but that does not include your satellite receiver boxes.   It sounds like you have a bunch of technical issues though with it (along with some estranged billing ones) and you may want to explore those technical issues individually, either here or with the fios support guys.  so for example the slow speed and the picture and audio cutting in and out, those things aren't normal and can/should be fixed.

The FTC is cruuently working on a new regulation that will require Verizon & Direct-TV, the two biggest offenders, to show ALL additional charges in the advertising materials like Comcast does.  The advertised price should be what you pay, not an additional $300 a month.

In my area (VHO8) Comca$t has fine print on their ads that say taxes and others fees not included.

Wont happen. Simply because they cannot tell Verizon how many boxes to put in their ad. How many should be added? Lets say the average household has 3 boxes, and the advertised price reflects that. That means if I only want 1 box it would be cheaper and if I want 8 boxes it would be more. No, what Verizon and the others do is just put up the starting price. You pay X amount + your personalizations to the system. This is the way that TV service has been done for decades. If you dont already know that, thats your problem. Everyone knows that everything sold in the US today is  price + tax and incidentals.

price + tax + shipping and handling (order by phone or internet)

price + tax + cable boxes (every cable add ever printed)

price + tax + licence and delivery fees (Every new car sold)

price + tax + closing fees (Every home sold)

price + tax + whatever

That is the way everything works.

Besides it is clearly listed on every ad out there. Verizons and every other company for that matter say that equipment is extra.

Agreed, comcast does say "Taxes & fees extra", that's true.  They're talking about local franchise fees, sales taxes, that kind of thing, but not the rental on the set top box.

40 bux a month

are you saying if I have 7 rooms and need cable boxes for each room and DVR's to boot, or High definition boxes, that 40 bux is what I pay, or do I have to add cable boxes on top of that fee?

Read the terms and conditions through the link at the bottom, and you will see more details. Yes they do not place the details even in fine print on the add page.

http://comcast.usdirect.com/terms_conditions.php

Also says that this information is old if you look at the date. This is not a Comca$t web site but a third party getting money if you sign up. Note usdirect.com. Just because they have a host called comcast does not mean they can be trusted. Take everything you read with a grain of salt. Talk about a scam.

I absolutely agree with you. I find my bill to be pretty darn clear and really to be no different than the one I used to get when I had Comcast.  And the OP is ranting about all these charges, the charges are no different than every single other company (DirecTV, Comcast or whoever), the accusations that Verizon is the only one who charges them is totally ludicrous.
